Sports Injuries

Proper Foot Care After Sports Injuries is Critical.

From plantar fasciitis to Achilles or ankle injuries and more, the physicians and staff at Foot & Ankle Premier Specialists care will help you get back in the game. Timeliness is essential – ignoring common sports injuries can lead to persistent issues or even permanent disability.

There’s no reason to suffer!

Although we’d love to see you in our office (not sure if you need a doctor, download our free consultation form and make an appointment – we’ll let you know if it’s something that needs treatment), sports injuries are almost always preventable.

These are some of the most common (and easy!) ways to prevent sports foot and ankle injuries:

Choose and wear the correct shoes. Many athletes choose shoes based solely on looks, but there are many other factors to consider. Ill-fitting shoes, shoes with high (or low) arches and other seemingly minor details can all lead to injury.

Warm up and stretch. Take the time to warm up pre-run or other sports activity. Then after your game or workout, be sure to stretch properly. YouTube is filled with detailed videos showing you the best ways to warm up and stretch. Take advantage of those resources!

Supporting the ankle or foot. Be sure to provide ample support to your foot and ankle during strenuous sports activities. Tape is one of the most common and affordable ways to provide support. Check out YouTube again or stop by our office for a tutorial if you’re unsure the best way to tape your foot.
